Carl Kirby: Press and Media

Practical commentary on AI adoption, business performance, operations, productivity and the reality of implementing technology inside SMEs.

About Carl Kirby

Carl Kirby is the founder of KIST Consulting in Stone, Staffordshire. With a background in operational leadership, customer service, logistics and business performance, he focuses on how organisations can improve performance and adopt AI without losing sight of the business problem they are trying to solve.

His work through KIST focuses on evidence before assumption: understanding the operating environment, identifying where time and capacity are being lost, selecting practical interventions and measuring what changes afterwards.

Available topics

  • Why AI projects should begin with a business problem
  • The Hidden Capacity Principle
  • Business productivity without simply asking people to work harder
  • Practical AI readiness and responsible adoption

  • The changing relationship between business, AI, education and skills

A practical voice, not an AI futurist

Carl approaches AI from the perspective of an operator and business leader. Commentary is grounded in how organisations actually work: people, processes, customers, constraints, commercial priorities and measurable outcomes.

If you cannot explain what AI is improving in terms of time, performance, quality or customer experience, the technology is probably not the starting point.
